Introduction to Open-water swimming. HOWL level 1 OW confidence

20th May 9am- 11:30am

17th June 9am- 11:30am

Course designed for those pool swimmers who want to venture into the world of open water swimming.
Minimum swim requirement:
Swim 400m Front crawl (100m nonstop)
Tread water for 60 seconds.
Float on back.

Cost: £25.00
Duration: 2.5hrs

This course will be a mix of class room and water based work. We will start in the class room discussing water: Safety, Environment and Equipment.
Once we are confident to enter the water, we shall ensure our equipment is on correctly fitted and comfortable for the whole session. During this part of the course we will show you techniques on how to get into your wetsuit with limited restriction and the correct amount of lubrication in the right places for maximum comfort.
On entering the water our coaches will teach you how to get comfortable in your new environment and safely navigate your way from mark to mark.
By the end of the course you should be able to enter the water at lakeside with confidence and navigate your way around our lake.
If you still don’t have the confidence to swim solo, ask about our swim buddy system.

Better Open-water swimming. HOWL level 2 OW Freedom

6th May  9am – 11:30am

3rd June  9am – 11:30am
Course designed for those swimmers who are confident in the pool, already swimming open water or completed HOWL level 1 OW confidence course and want to venture into the world of open water / wild swimming or multisport training.
Minimum swim requirement:
Swim 750m Front crawl (200m nonstop)
Tread water for 60 seconds.
Float on back.

Cost: £25.00
Duration: 2.5hrs

This course will be a mix of class room and water based work. We will start in the class room discussing water safety both still water and tidal, Environment: water quality, hazard awareness water temperature. Equipment: Wetsuit fitting / skin swimming, wild swimming. During this part of the course we will show you or re-cap the techniques on how to get into your wetsuit with limited restriction and the correct amount of lubrication in the right places for maximum comfort.
Once we are in the water our coaches cover the areas of breathing in different conditions, stroke technique for open water and navigation.
By the end of the course you will have the skills to make you a better open-water swimmer.
Swimming with confidence and navigate your way around our lake more efficiently and giving you a base to build your swim distance and the knowhow to start training or take part in multi-sports events.
